Sub-Zero Interior Light Not Working

A dark compartment may involve a lamp, control setting or another operating condition. First establish whether the appliance is still cooling normally.

What to check first

  • Check whether the display and other compartment lights work.
  • Note whether the door was left open for an extended period.
  • Review any special operating modes described in your model guide.

What the observations mean

Lighting designs vary, and not every lamp is intended for owner replacement. Do not remove trim or handle wiring to test the light. A dark compartment with normal cooling should be reported differently from a unit with no lights, no display and no cooling.

Before you request service

Tell us which light is affected, whether it is completely dark or flickers and whether the symptom is intermittent. Include the full model number to identify the lighting arrangement.

Have the full model number, your city and ZIP code ready. Describe when the issue began and whether it is constant or intermittent. Avoid removing appliance panels, handling wiring or opening refrigerant lines; those checks belong to a qualified technician.
